After Rooftop Prince, Queen In Hyun’s Man, and Dr. Jin, another fusion time-travel drama will be hitting Korean television screens soon, this time with top stars Lee Min Ho and Kim Hee Sun in the leading roles. Set to premiere in mid-August on SBS, the fantasy historical series Faith is about a modern-day female plastic surgeon who gets whisked back in time to the Goryeo era by a royal guard.
Though the latest to arrive, Faith has been in the works for over two years, with names like Lee Jun Ki and Kang Ji Hwan previously attached to the blockbuster production before Lee Min Ho was confirmed as the time-traveling warrior earlier this year. Anticipation is high as this is Lee Min Ho’s first costume drama and the comeback project of 90s drama queen Kim Hee Sun, who has been absent from the screen for six years.Faith also reunites renowned director Kim Jong Hak with screenwriter Song Ji Na, the creative team behind The Legend and the seminal classics Sandglass and Eye of Dawn. Philip Lee, Ryu Deok Hwan, Park Se Young, and Sung Hoon co-star in the epic action and romance fusion drama.
Lee Min Ho’s Boys Over Flowers co-star Kim Hyun Joong also has a new TV drama coming up this year. The singer-actor takes on his third comic adaptation with City Conquest, a vigilante crime action drama based on a best-selling noir manhwa series. IRIS director Baek Jin Dong is at the helm of the revenge actioner, which just began filming in mid-July in Japan and will feature location shooting in other countries. Co-starring Jung Yu Mi, Nam Gung Min, and Kim Seung Woo, City Conquest is expected to air before the end of the year.
